Weapon types overview

IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator puts you behind the guns of a colossal war machine, and the full weapons list is best read as a set of fire mission roles rather than a conventional loadout screen. Every shot, from the first ranging round to the final heavy salvo, follows the same loop: take map measurements based on the received coordinates, strain the hydraulics, and gunlay the cannons before pulling the trigger. Knowing which role each weapon serves matters more than memorizing gun names, because the operations you fight determine how you use them.

The arsenal falls into several practical categories:

  • Main heavy battery: the primary bombardment cannons that carry most operations and deliver the decisive blows.
  • Counter-battery guns: used to silence enemy artillery that answers your fire, trained in the Counter-Battery operation.
  • Anti-rail ordnance: heavy shells for intercepting armored trains on the Iron Road.
  • Coastal and naval fire: turret solutions for beachhead denial and naval targets in High Tide.
  • Calibration rounds: ranging shots from Calibration Fire that set the accuracy baseline for every later salvo.
  • Indirect fire tools: the arrangements used in Dead Reckoning and Blind Fire to hit targets you cannot see directly.

Special missions also call for mixed shot plans.Fire and Light is the clearest example: the Honour Salute achievement asks you to deliver fire and light together, so the operation rewards a flexible approach to how you place each round.

How to unlock

IRON NEST is a single-player campaign with Steam Achievements, and the arsenal unlocks as you work through the operation list. The game released on Aug 6, 2026 at $14.99, and each mission builds on the tools learned in the one before it.
